Perioperative Technician- Surgery Unit

The competent Perioperative Technician is responsible for performing many aspects of basic patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance appropriate to age of the patient, transportation of the patients, supply and equipment maintenance, transportation of specimens and blood products to and from the department. Assists surgical team members in the preparation and set-up of their rooms. Performs housekeeping duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

Must possess skills and abilities to administer basic hands-on care to patients in a surgery hospital setting acquired through previous hospital experience, in-house training program or related health care experience preferred. Ability to read and write English. Must be knowledgeable regarding basic medical terminology and be able to identify the many pieces of equipment used in the OR. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail oriented. Able to work independently. Ability to take direction. Flexible ability to handle multiple priorities.
