1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of well-rounded OR experience for a travel position in Temple, TX. Details Hospital Operating Room setting in Temple, TX PM shift schedule: Monday through Wednesday, 1100-2330 (3x12s) Well-rounded OR experience expected across Trauma, Ortho, General, Plastics, ENT, Urology, and Robotics cases Scrubs are provided by the facility Requirements Minimum 2 years of OR/surgical technology experience CST credential required (grandfathered candidates accepted) BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required Active TX license required if applicable Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including Trauma, Ortho, General, Plastics, ENT, Urology, and Robotics 2 professional references required for consideration Flu shot required; no exemptions accepted DOB and SSN required for consideration Additional Information Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position Consult with surgeons prior to procedures to review special needs and ensure timely preparation of instruments Set up the OR according to procedure schedules, including sterile arrangement of instrument tables, supplies, and equipment Perform and verify surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and miscellaneous items per established policy Anticipate and respond to the surgical team's needs throughout the course of each procedure, including passing instruments and holding retractors Assist with patient positioning, draping, and application of surgical dressings post-procedure Receive and handle surgical specimens per protocol, passing them off the sterile field to the circulating nurse Disassemble and prepare soiled instrumentation for transport to decontamination, and ensure proper disposal of sharps, fluids, and waste Clean the OR following each case and return equipment to appropriate storage areas Follow infection control policies, AORN perioperative guidelines, and OSHA standards to maintain a safe environment Ensure proper functioning and knowledge of all surgical instruments and equipment prior to patient use
