Richmond, VA Area | 1-3 Weekends Per Month About the Role Medworks is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to provide on-call surgical support across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in the Greater Richmond, VA area. This is a mobile, weekend on-call role that involves traveling between local client sites as needed. The Surgical Technologist supports clinical teams by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting during procedures to ensure safe and efficient patient care. Compensation Earn $45/hour for active case coverage. 2-hour minimum pay guarantee for every case, even if coverage lasts less than two hours. Receive $5/hour for all on-call hours. Responsibilities Pre-Operative Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment Ensure proper setup for scheduled and emergency surgical procedures Verify equipment functionality prior to procedures Prepare specialty instrumentation and surgical supplies as needed Intra-Operative Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic technique standards Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments efficiently Operate and monitor specialty surgical equipment, including lasers Support surgical teams to promote efficient workflow and patient safety Ensure accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts according to facility policy Post-Operative Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and restocking Complete documentation and track equipment usage accurately Prepare instruments and equipment for reprocessing following procedures Ensure readiness for subsequent surgical cases Required Qualifications Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (NBSTSA or equivalent accredited organization) Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to respond to on-call assignments and work independently when needed Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Richmond area Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of Surgical Technologist experience Experience in urology, gynecology, or general surgery Previous on-call, PRN, or ambulatory surgery center experience Current BLS certification Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and move equipment Ability to work in a surgical/clinical environment Ability to travel between healthcare facilities within the Greater Richmond area About Medworks Medworks provides surgical equipment and procedural support services to healthcare providers, specializing in urology, gynecology, and general surgery.
