Role:

The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams by ensuring that all necessary instruments and equipment are prepared and maintained to the highest standards for plastic surgery procedures. This position requires meticulous attention to detail in surgical site preparation and sterile technique to promote patient safety and successful surgical outcomes. The Surgical Technologist collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and other operating room personnel to anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures. They are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, managing surgical instruments, and assisting with surgical draping specific to plastic surgery operations. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical interventions within a healthcare setting focused on plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential. Demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques and operating room protocols. Experience or training in surgical site preparation and instrument handling. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience specifically in plastic surgery operating rooms. Advanced knowledge of plastic surgery procedures and instrumentation. Additional certifications related to surgical technology or perioperative nursing. Strong time management skills demonstrated in a clinical setting. Experience with instrument cleaning and maintenance protocols in healthcare.

Responsibilities:

Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes specific to plastic surgery procedures. Assist in surgical site preparation by ensuring proper sterilization and adherence to infection control protocols. Manage and maintain surgical instruments during procedures, including passing instruments to surgeons and anticipating their needs. Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment following each procedure to maintain readiness for subsequent surgeries. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of plastic surgery operations.
