Responsibilities Prepare the operating room by sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies specific to orthopedic procedures. Assist surgeons during orthopedic surgeries by passing instruments, suturing, and managing surgical tools efficiently. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection prevention protocols throughout all phases of surgery. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during procedures, providing support as needed. Operate and troubleshoot medical equipment used in orthopedic surgeries, including endoscopy systems and imaging devices. Assist with the treatment of fractures, trauma cases, and complex orthopedic conditions by providing necessary instrumentation and support. Ensure proper sterilization of medical equipment post-procedure and maintain accurate documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support preoperative preparation by reviewing patient history, verifying surgical plans, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, nursing staff, and physicians to optimize patient care. Qualifications Proven experience as an OR technician with specialization in orthopedics or trauma surgery preferred. Level I or Level II trauma center experience highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine protocols, and critical care environments. Proficiency in handling surgical instruments such as those used for suturing, fracture treatment, and endoscopy. Familiarity with medical terminology related to orthopedics, neurosurgery assistance, cardiovascular surgery support, and trauma care. Hands-on experience with medical equipment sterilization processes and aseptic techniques. Strong analysis skills for interpreting vital signs and physiological data during surgery. Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation. Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments like ICU or ambulatory surgery centers. Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced trauma life support (ATLS) or perioperative nursing are advantageous. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining sterile fields and medical records.
