Key Responsibilities Surgical Support:
Perform scrub duties across general, orthopedic, robotic, and complex specialty procedures. Assist surgical teams with advanced cases.
Sterile Field Maintenance:
Apply expert knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile and safe operating environment.
Instrument Handling:
Prepare, separate, and clear instruments for sterile processing after procedures (direct sterilization is handled by SPD).
Inventory & Core Management:
Monitor OR supplies, track inventory levels, notify leads when stock is running low, and assist with cleaning/restocking sterile core areas.
High-Volume Block Schedules:
Scrub effectively during back-to-back block scheduling while maintaining clear communication under fast-paced or demanding conditions.
Schedule & Call Requirements Shift Structure:
40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 8-hour shifts with start times between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
On-Call Rotation:
Approximately once every 4 to 5 weeks.
Weekdays:
Primary call (end of shift - 6:00 AM) or Secondary call (end of shift - 9:00 PM).
Candidates must reside within a 30-minute response radius of the hospital to meet call coverage guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements Required:
Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) or Surgical Technologist (ST) program (Associate Degree or Technical Diploma). Demonstrated hands-on experience in Robotics and Orthopedics .
NBSTSA Certification:
Required (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
BLS/CPR Certification:
Required (or obtained within 6 weeks of hire). Ability to live within a 30-minute radius of the facility for call response.
Preferred:
Experience in Neuro/Spine procedures (head, complex spine, advanced orthopedics). Background working in a Level 2 or Level 3 Trauma Center .
