Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and arranging surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to aseptic techniques. Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during procedures while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols. Monitor patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and oxygen saturation throughout surgeries to ensure stability. Maintain accurate medical records and document surgical procedures using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or other EMR platforms. Support the sterilization of medical equipment and surgical instruments following hospital infection prevention standards. Assist with the treatment of fractures, trauma care procedures, and specialized surgeries such as cardiovascular or neurosurgery when needed. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, critical care units (ICU), pediatric units, and other hospital departments to provide seamless patient care. Ensure compliance with healthcare infection prevention policies and aseptic techniques throughout all phases of surgery. Handle medical equipment operation with proficiency, including endoscopy tools and other specialized devices used in various surgical procedures. Participate in data collection related to surgical procedures for quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits. Skills Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical practice. Proven experience assisting in Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers with acute trauma care responsibilities. Strong background in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care environments, and orthopedic surgery assistance. Skilled in suturing techniques and treatment of fractures with attention to detail for optimal patient outcomes. Familiarity with medical equipment sterilization processes and infection control practices essential for maintaining a sterile environment. Ability to operate complex medical equipment safely and efficiently during surgeries across various specialties including cardiovascular surgery assistance and neurosurgery support. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for accurate documentation of patient records. Excellent analysis skills combined with the ability to respond swiftly in high-pressure situations like trauma or emergency interventions. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques necessary for all operative procedures. Knowledge of pediatric considerations in surgery settings along with ambulatory surgery center operations for outpatient procedures. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams providing patient-centered care across diverse clinical environments.
