St Mary's Medical Center - Blue Springs, MO We are seeking a Float Pool PCA, also referred to as a Med-Surg Tele PCA. The Float Pool PCA assist nurses by providing basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring patient safety for adults recovering from surgeries or illnesses while on heart monitors. Float Pool PCA's play a critical role in observing patients, reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment to promote recovery.
Responsibilities Basic patient care:
help patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating Vital signs monitoring: take and record blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation Mobility assistance: help patients get in and out of bed, walk, or use assistive devices.
EKG lead maintenance:
ensure telemetry monitors (heart monitors) are properly connected and functioning — though Patient Care Assistant's (PCA's) don't usually interpret heart rhythms, they might recognize when alarms go off and immediately alert registered nurses
Observation:
monitor patients for any physical changes (shortness of breath, chest pain, altered mental status) and quickly notifying the nursing staff Qualifications Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below): Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement Full benefits at
