Job Description
The primary purpose of the Intensive Care Nursery (FICN) Telemetry Technician position is to assist in the performance of clinical and technical procedures which contribute to the care of the Neonatal/Pediatric monitored telemetry patient (ages' birth to two (2) years) under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. Assists the medical and nursing staff with the continuous monitoring of the patient's ECG, oxygen saturation and other rhythms, and maintaining monitoring equipment. Initiates tracing if change occurs in patient rhythm and immediately alerts nursing personnel. Maintains and monitors rate limits and recognizes whether irregularity is due to change in patient rhythm or machine malfunction. Under direct supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties for assigned Patient Care Services unit. Operates on-line computer terminal to enter/retrieve/correct patient information. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) to six (6) months of healthcare experience with electrocardiograph or completion of a training program in the use of electrocardiograph equipment. Prior experience in reading EKG strips preferred. BLS Certification required.
