Responsibilities & Required Experience We are seeking an experienced Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Ultrasound Technician/Sonographer to work directly with our MFM physician. This is NOT an entry-level position. New graduates or candidates without prior hands-on MFM ultrasound experience will not be considered. The ideal candidate must have at least 8-12 months of recent, hands-on experience working specifically in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) or high-risk obstetric ultrasound and must be able to independently perform high-quality obstetric ultrasound examinations.
Required hands-on MFM skills include:
Perform complete fetal anatomy/anatomic survey ultrasounds independently and accurately. Perform fetal growth scans and biometric measurements , including BPD, HC, AC, FL and estimated fetal weight. Perform Biophysical Profiles (BPP) and assist with/perform fetal surveillance, including NST/BPP testing , as required by the practice. Perform limited and targeted obstetric ultrasounds for high-risk pregnancies. Perform transvaginal ultrasound and cervical-length measurements . Evaluate placental location , including placenta previa and low-lying placenta. Assess amniotic fluid volume , including AFI and deepest vertical pocket measurements. Perform appropriate fetal Doppler studies , when ordered, including umbilical artery and other MFM Doppler examinations within the technician's training and scope. Evaluate fetal presentation, fetal heart activity, fetal movement and other required components of MFM ultrasound examinations. Obtain clear, diagnostic-quality images and measurements for physician interpretation. Properly document and organize ultrasound images and preliminary technical findings within the ultrasound/EHR system. Recognize abnormal or concerning ultrasound findings and promptly bring them to the attention of the MFM physician. Work efficiently with high-risk obstetric patients while maintaining accuracy, professionalism and patient comfort. Follow established MFM ultrasound protocols and work closely with the physician in managing high-risk pregnancies. Mandatory Qualifications Minimum 8-12 months of hands-on MFM/high-risk OB ultrasound experience required. Must have actual experience performing fetal anatomy scans, fetal growth scans, BPPs, cervical-length studies and other MFM obstetric ultrasound examinations. New ultrasound school graduates without MFM experience will NOT be considered. Must be comfortable performing examinations independently with minimal supervision. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong communication, professionalism and patient-care skills required. Appropriate ultrasound certification/registry credentials are strongly preferred.
