Job Summary:
The Echocardiography Technologist assists in all procedures performed in the Non Invasive Cardiac Laboratory (Echo) and is a member of the Cardiology Department. Responsible and accountable for recording Echocardiograms/Doppler/Color Flow examinations using ultrasound equipment to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments. Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of all procedures and competency in the use of all related ultrasound equipment and computers.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
? Performs full preliminary interpretation of 2D/Doppler studies Pericardiocentesis, Bubble studies, and Contract medium studies. ? Explains procedure to patient and prepares patient for test. ? Reviews patient?s medical history. ? Accurate and timely documentation in all applicable electronic medical records system, workbooks, and or logs. Responsible for the weekend and begin and/or end of shift duties as applicable to shift assignment. ? Calculates cardiac measurements of adult and geriatric. ? Performs all aspects of patient care within scope in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. ? Preforms Bubble and Contrast Medium studies. ? Performs electrocardiograms procedures. ? Attends educational in-service programs to maintain competency. Attends hospital in-service programs and training. ? Promptly updates CS Link System List/In-Basket acknowledging all orders and status patients. ? Performs other duties as assigned. Start time varies from 7am to 8am
Qualifications Educational Requirements:
Vocational/Technical Diploma graduate of an accredited ultrasound school (required) Vocational/Technical Diploma Sonography or related program (required)
License/Certifications:
Basic Life Support (required) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through RDCS certification (within 1 year of hire) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification (within 1 year of hire)
Experience:
1 year Ultrasound experience in echocardiography (required)
