ABOUT WELL&YOU RURALREACH

Well&You RuralReach will open four permanent satellite clinics across Northeast Florida, including rural Baker and Nassau counties, bringing chronic disease management, vascular and limb-salvage care, cardiac monitoring, women's health, and non-opioid pain care to residents who now drive 35 to 40 miles for specialty care. In communities where heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and amputation rates run well above Florida's average, this award turns Well&You's long-standing local roots and relationships into permanent access points for care. Staffed by board-certified physicians and APRNs, these clinics will build sustainable rural health infrastructure and bring a better way to care to rural Northeast Florida.

Job Summary:

The Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) performs non-invasive diagnostic testing to evaluate vascular conditions and blood flow abnormalities, and in this role does so as the sole diagnostic resource at rural clinic sites and community screening events. Working on portable equipment, often without a second technologist to consult and with the interpreting physician available remotely, the RVT independently completes the full arterial and venous exam menu, recognizes urgent findings and escalates them immediately, and troubleshoots equipment and connectivity problems in the field so that patients who traveled a long distance are not sent home without their study. This position requires an experienced, fully independent scanner with a deep foundation in vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and pathophysiology, strong patient care skills, and the initiative to keep a remote site running.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform arterial and venous ultrasounds on patients and assist in procedures. Prepare patients for procedures and educate them on the process Obtain and document accurate ultrasound images Communicate findings to physicians and other members of the healthcare team Perform non-invasive vascular tests Obtain accurate images of blood vessels and document findings to aid in the diagnosis of vascular diseases such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), carotid artery disease, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Analyze test results and collaborate with physicians to interpret findings and provide reports. Prepare and position patients for vascular examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order for optimal performance. Follow standard protocols for vascular testing and comply with safety and quality control procedures. Educate patients about the vascular examination process and address any questions or concerns they may have. Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system, documenting all tests and results. Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment Independently perform the full non-invasive vascular exam menu at rural clinic sites and outreach events, on portable equipment, without on-site technologist support. Travel with, set up, calibrate, quality-check, and break down portable ultrasound equipment at rural clinics and community screening events. Perform community vascular screening — carotid, abdominal aortic, ABI and peripheral arterial, and venous studies — at outreach events and produce complete documentation for physician interpretation. Recognize critical and time-sensitive findings, including deep vein thrombosis, high-grade carotid stenosis, and critical limb ischemia, and escalate immediately per protocol even when the interpreting physician is off site. Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions in the field, and know when a study must be rescheduled versus safely completed with available equipment. Ensure complete transmission of images, worksheets, and reports from remote sites to the interpreting physician and the EHR over variable connectivity, and confirm receipt. Educate rural patients — many of whom are receiving their first vascular evaluation — on what the study shows, what happens next, and why follow-up matters. Coordinate with providers and patient navigators to sequence imaging, consultation, and procedures into a single trip for patients traveling long distances. Capture complete and accurate screening, demographic, and outcome data required for rural health grant reporting.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent communication and patient education skills Self-motivated and fully independent scanner; able to run a remote site alone, manage the schedule, and deliver complete studies without on-site technical support Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Proficiency in the use of vascular ultrasound and non-invasive testing equipment. Excellent communication and patient care skills. Ability to interpret complex data and provide accurate reports to physicians. Deep knowledge foundation in vascular anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and disease processes, sufficient to adapt protocols to difficult anatomy or limited equipment without compromising diagnostic quality. Proficiency with portable and point-of-care ultrasound systems, including field troubleshooting, calibration, and quality control. Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness in resource-constrained environments. Sound independent judgment on critical findings, escalation, and when a study is inadequate and must be repeated. Confident, public-facing presence for community screening events and patient education in rural settings. Cultural competence and ease with rural patient populations, including patients with limited health literacy or long-standing gaps in care. Willingness and ability to travel to rural clinic sites and outreach events on a regular basis.

Education and Experience:

Current RVT (ARDMS) or RVS (CCI) registration required 3+ years performing both venous and arterial duplex ultrasound independently Experience with portable, mobile, or outreach ultrasound and community screening events strongly preferred Experience in a rural, multi-site, FQHC, or critical access setting preferred Current BLS certification Valid Florida driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to rural sites and outreach events

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Regular travel between the Jacksonville area and rural clinic sites, including some early start times and occasional evening or weekend outreach events. Must be able to load, transport, and set up portable equipment, supplies, and event materials for offsite clinics and community screening events. Must be able to work productively in smaller rural facilities and temporary event spaces with limited support staff on site.
