//ahca.myflorida.com/health-quality-assurance/bureau-of-central-services/background-screening/clearinghouse Snapshot of Key Accountabilities of the Ultrasound Technician Perform ultrasound imaging for pregnancy dating and identification of the presence or absence of pregnancy, cardiac activity, and fetal number. Provide ultrasound guidance for procedures under the direction of a provider. Provide patients with appropriate information regarding the ultrasound procedure, its purpose, and limitations. Recognize and acknowledge patients' feelings surrounding abortion decisions and the ultrasound imaging procedure while providing compassionate and non-directive care. Screen medical and social histories and accurately document pertinent information. Maintain clear and accurate medical records using the electronic health record system. Properly clean and maintain ultrasound equipment and dispose of contaminated supplies in accordance with PPFL protocols and regulatory standards. Complete basic laboratory work in accordance with PPFL Medical Standards and Guidelines and applicable state and federal requirements. Provide patients with information regarding FDA-approved birth control methods and instructions related to their selected method. Provide non-directive information regarding pregnancy options and make appropriate referrals based on the patient's decision. Make referrals for additional patient care when indicated. Monitor patient flow and assist providers to support efficient and timely service delivery. Perform basic clerical functions, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, taking messages, transferring records, and ensuring completion of required health center documentation. Assist with maintaining health center cleanliness, stocking supplies, instruments, and overall operational readiness. Maintain patient confidentiality and consistently meet customer service and quality standards. Participate in quality assurance, compliance, productivity, and other health center initiatives. Attend required staff meetings, in-service meetings, onboarding, and ongoing training. Collaborate with health center staff and demonstrate a team-based approach to patient care and service delivery. Perform additional medical services once appropriately trained and deemed qualified. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience and Education of the Ultrasound Technician Ultrasound Certification/Licensure recommended. Minimum of one (1) year of ultrasound experience recommended. Medical or health care-related certificate or diploma preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with phlebotomy, injections, pregnancy counseling, and HIV counseling. BLS may be required. Previous experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Must have a strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood. Excellent organizational, communication, and sound decision-making skills. Commitment to efficiency, accuracy, and quality. Must be comfortable discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted infections/diseases, and pregnancy options. Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays. Ability to travel to other PPFL locations as needed. What Does It Take to Thrive Here? Benefits and Compensation Hourly compensation for the Ultrasound Technician position starts at $28.00 per hour , commensurate with experience and local market conditions.
