Job Description

University Vascular is looking for an RVT/RVS to hold a full time position in our fast paced, growing vascular clinic with 6 vascular surgeons and in-house angio suite. As an RVT for our practice, you will be exposed to a large amount of vascular pathology and disease, and have a direct relationship with our physicians and their mid-levels to assist in patient care. Experience and competencies in all vascular ultrasounds highly preferred. Exams include, but not limited to; carotid duplex, arterial duplex, ABIs, venous duplex (reflux and DVT), visceral/abdominal, as well as hemodialysis duplex. Our office is open Monday- Friday, with no weekend or call requirements, and closed all major holidays. You will be part of a great vascular lab team in our vascular department! The Vascular Technologist job requires duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations ordered by Physician
  • Ensures correct ordering of exams, and contacts Physician before making changes
  • Prepare the exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct examinations
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
  • Analyses ultrasound, synthesize sonographic information, medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
  • Completes and confirms correct exam billing
  • Prepares preliminary reports and contacts outside referring physicians when required, according to established procedures
  • Coordinates with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided
  • Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems
  • Reports equipment failures to the appropriate supervisor or staff member
  • Display good work ethic and friendly and cheerful disposition
  • Maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality
  • Pursue professional development for the continual improvement of patient care
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Vascular Technology Program, that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) preferred
  • Current Registered Vascular Technologist certification, highly preferred
  • Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment; Mindray DC-8 and Parks Physiologic Machine
  • Ability to utilize
EPIC EMR
system and Medstreaming reporting system
  • Competencies in exams not limited to: Lower and Upper Arterial Duplex, Lower and Upper Venous Duplex including DVT and Reflux studies,
Abdominal Aorta Duplex, Mesenteric Artery Duplex, Renal Artery Duplex, Carotid Duplex, and Hemodialysis Duplex Preferred Skills:
Physical demands: Moderate lifting: up to 50 lbs. maximum. Must be able to stand, stoop, lift and walk without restrictions.
