Echo Technician/Cardio Sonographer

• Radiology Job Type Part-time Description Weiser Memorial Hospital--rated as one of Idaho's best places to work--is looking to hire a part-time Echo Technician/Cardio Sonographer to join our team. The Echo Technician/Cardio Sonographer independently performs 2-D echocardiograms, cardiac Doppler, and color flow imaging tests according to departmental policies, procedures and professional standards. Responsibilities:
Performs echocardiograms and related imaging tests. Verifies and evaluates diagnostic orders, clarifies confusing or incomplete orders. Prepares and positions patients and imaging equipment in a safe, competent and productive manner, incorporating age-specific factors as appropriate. Assists physician with stress echo and transesophageal echo (TTE) procedures. Follows appropriate testing procedures, integrates and relates data generated by testing procedures and assesses questionable or erratic results. Documents all required information according to policies and procedures. Ensures that all entries on patient records contain all required data. Ensures that information is legible, accurate, and complete for charging purposes. Completes all appropriate image storage and patient charges. Maintains department equipment readiness and demonstrates competency on all equipment. Completes periodic equipment evaluation, cleans and sterilizes equipment each shift, properly assembles equipment and ensures proper orientation through calibration or through manufacturer's manuals. Ensures adequate supply of materials and equipment needed for daily needs. Ensures patient safety through awareness, education, and infection control. Practices aseptic techniques with all designated procedures. Uses PPE when necessary. Facilitates effective communication among departmental staff to ensure interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care. Reports significant changes to nurses, physicians, director, and oncoming shift practitioners as warranted. Ability to make good independent decisions during assigned shift within scope of certification and established hospital policies and procedures. Requires good interpersonal communication skills and customer service orientation. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Graduate or Equivalent required. Technical Training in Echocardiography or related field required. Six months to one-year echocardiography experience preferred. Current Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer. (RCS) or registry eligible, must obtain registration within six months of employment. Current BLS required. Salary Description $46.02 - $70.12 hourly
