At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for an Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist is:- Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
- Explains and performs the procedure with consideration to the level of understanding and age appropriateness for the patient.
- Able to assess the patient's pain by interfering with the imaging procedure
- makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the body part to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of the test.
- Understands and practices proper use of all equipment.
- Performs procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Document patient information appropriately.
- Adjust and maintain equipment The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred, but not required.
- Two years of Ultrasound/Vascular experience.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Currently registered
- minimal certifications
- RDMS abdomen (AB) and vascular (RVT)
- Current BCLS certification.
- High integrity, able to follow procedures.
- Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take initiative in learning the many complex processes.
- Exhibits professionalism at all times, understands appropriate workplace behavior/communications.
- Confidentiality a must.
