The Ultrasound Technician at NJ Vein Specialists plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive exceptional care and support throughout their treatment journey. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate with patients, coordinate appointments, and manage administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Performing Ultrasound Scans Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. Conduct a variety of ultrasound exams, including abdominal, vascular, obstetric, gynecological, and musculoskeletal studies. Follow protocols and adapt techniques based on the patient's condition and the physician's requirements. Patient Preparation and Care Explain procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns . Position patients appropriately to obtain optimal imaging results. Ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure. Documentation and Reporting Record and document imaging findings for physician review. Prepare detailed reports of diagnostic observations. Maintain accurate patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Equipment Maintenance Ensure ultrasound equipment is calibrated correctly and in good working order. Perform routine maintenance and report any technical issues. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the equipment and examination area. Keep good records of imaging in StudyCast software. Setting Up Office Procedure Supplies Prepare necessary supplies and instruments for in-office procedures (e.g., RFA, Varethina). Ensure all sterile and disposable supplies are readily available and properly organized. Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures as needed. Wrap patient's procedure site post-procedure Discuss post-procedure protocols with the patient. Inventory Management and Housekeeping Monitor and maintain inventory of ultrasound supplies, such as gels, sterile covers, and needles. Order and restock items to prevent shortages. Keep the ultrasound room and equipment clean, organized, and compliant with infection control protocols. Dispose of biohazard materials and maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff. Collaboration with the Healthcare Team Communicate findings to physicians and collaborate on patient care plans. Provide technical support and expertise during procedures requiring ultrasound guidance. Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions. Compliance and Quality Assurance Adhere to safety and infection control policies and standards. Follow HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. Stay updated on advancements in sonography and maintain certification through continuing education. Administrative Duties Schedule patient appointments and manage imaging workflow. Assist with billing by coding procedures accurately when needed. Order and manage inventory of ultrasound-related supplies.
REQUIREMENTS
RVT Associates or Bachelor's degree in Medical Sonography Proven experience as a Vascular Ultrasound Technologist or similar role within a clinical setting. Proficiency with vein mapping ultrasounds to effectively measure and document vein size and reflux times in varicose veins. Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to vascular health. (Fluency in Spanish preferred.) Proficiency in performing diagnostic evaluations using ultrasound technology. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
