Rockaway Animal Hospital is looking for a skilled and motivated Sonographer to join our growing diagnostic imaging team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced veterinary sonographer OR human sonographer who is interested in bringing their ultrasound expertise into veterinary medicine. We are looking for someone who takes pride in obtaining high-quality diagnostic images, enjoys working with a medical team, and wants to be part of a collaborative hospital environment. Best of all ! this position offers a predictable schedule with NO weekends and NO holidays! Our sonographer works closely with our veterinarians and medical team to obtain diagnostic ultrasound images of dogs and cats . Images are submitted for specialist interpretation, allowing our doctors to provide advanced diagnostic care to our patients. What You'll Do Perform diagnostic abdominal and other appropriate ultrasounds on dogs and cats Obtain high-quality diagnostic images for specialist interpretation Review patient medical records and history prior to imaging Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures, including confirming fasting instructions Confirm scheduled ultrasound appointments Ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed Document procedures and findings accurately in the patient's medical record Communicate with veterinarians and the medical team regarding completed studies Assist with patient handling and monitoring throughout the procedure Provide appropriate patient discharge instructions following ultrasound Maintain accurate, organized and confidential medical records Help maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure the imaging area is clean and ready for use Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians and support staff in a fast-paced hospital environment Who We're Looking For We are open to candidates with experience in veterinary or human diagnostic ultrasound . You may be a great fit if you are: An experienced veterinary sonographer looking to join a supportive hospital A human sonographer interested in transitioning your ultrasound skills into veterinary medicine Experienced in obtaining diagnostic-quality ultrasound images Detail-oriented and comfortable working independently Comfortable working with a medical team and communicating professionally Patient, compassionate and comfortable working with animals Able to work efficiently while maintaining high standards for image quality and patient care
