The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations, operating advanced imaging equipment, maintaining patient safety and comfort, and ensuring high-quality image acquisition in accordance with established protocols and department standards. Responsibilities Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort, privacy, and safety. Perform ultrasound examinations according to physician orders, established protocols, and department standards. Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images of internal body structures. Select and optimize appropriate imaging techniques and settings to achieve diagnostic-quality images. Maintain a strong working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ultrasound imaging techniques. Recognize and appropriately document relevant imaging findings and communicate pertinent information to the interpreting physician or provider. Follow appropriate infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique when applicable. Accurately document examinations, patient information, and equipment-related records in accordance with applicable regulations and department policies. Perform routine equipment checks and quality-control procedures and promptly report or troubleshoot equipment issues as appropriate. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment. Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Maintain current knowledge of ultrasound technology, protocols, and best practices. Qualifications & Skills Proficiency in performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations and operating ultrasound equipment. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ultrasound imaging principles. Understanding of infection prevention and control practices in a healthcare environment. Ability to follow physician orders and established imaging protocols while adapting techniques to obtain optimal diagnostic images. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in image acquisition and documentation.
