The practice is committed to high-quality patient care, teamwork, and creating a supportive, professional work environment. The practice is open Monday through Thursday. Monday hours 9am to 6pm. Ultrasound Technologist for part time employment (15-25 hours per week, approx).

• JOB SUMMARY The

VENOUS VASCULAR

Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for working in tandem with all providers to evaluate venous disease of the lower extremities while using a variety of ultrasound modalities, including gray scale, Doppler, and color-duplex imaging.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform patient evaluation and assessment of vein disease prior to ultrasound examination.
• Verify completion of all consent forms prior to starting a procedure.
• Perform ultrasound examination of patients' superficial and deep veins to create a venous flow map for purposes of developing a safe and effective treatment plan.
• Assist medical providers in explaining the treatment plan to the patient and how that treatment plan addresses the patient's specific needs.
• Assist medical providers during image guided injection treatment sessions with the appropriate directions regarding needle placement.
• Assist medical providers during venous treatment procedures (including but not limited to RF, UGS, Sclerotherapy) with appropriate visualization regarding catheter / needle placement and withdrawal.
• Responsible for pre-treatment set up and post-treatment/post-scanning cleaning of the treatment area/exam room, including, but not limited to cleaning counter and all work surfaces, exam table, floor, and all other surfaces associated with care and treatment.
• Escort patients into private rooms for consultations, follow ups, and sclerotherapy.
• Take vitals, as well as before and after photos as needed.
• Responsible for adhering to safety standards set forth by OSHA.
• Perform any additional ultrasound exams as indicated by the treatment plan at the direction of the medical provider to ensure the efficacy of treatment and safety of the patients.
• Assist medical providers and office staff in establishing and maintaining the ultrasound schedule to ensure optimum patient care, efficiency, and safety.
• Confirm appointments are scheduled correctly by cross checking with patient's history, and that appropriate authorizations are in for each procedure.
• Develop and maintain a high level of diagnostic clinical skills commensurate with the standards set by the provider.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and manage supply inventory to ensure effective clinical operations and report any equipment damage promptly to Practice Coordinator and Director of Clinical Operations.
• Cover for other Ultrasound technologists, and assist in front desk duties and nursing responsibilities, as needed during a typical work week. Being that this practice is a small practice, cross training is very important.
• Pursue and complete continuing education programs, as required in maintenance of certifications, to learn more about the latest techniques and medications and how they will help the patients.
• Provide patient education.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Assist with IAC accreditation and re-accreditation processes in all manners needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• One to three years of ultrasound experience in a vein clinic is required.
• Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Registration is required (RVT or RVS preferred)
• Certificate of Completion from an accredited (CAAHEP) ultrasound program is required.
• Experience with IAC accreditation and continued quality assurance programs preferred.
• One to three years of work experience in a vein clinic is required.
• Knowledge of vascular disease, treatment options for varicose and spider veins, EMR software, cloud-based image storage systems, and venous treatment procedures (RF, UGS) is required.
• Knowledge of computers, medical terminology, medical coding, appointment scheduling guidelines, and health insurance in order to effectively handle the patient encounter is required.
• Knowledge of common safety procedures and precautions to establish and maintain an OSHA compliant work environment required.
• Attention to detail to accurately capture images and record information required.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot technical issues with equipment or images required.
• Ability to multi-task required.
• Self-motivated individual with a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and day-to-day decision-making required.
• Ability to work and adapt in a fast paced, patient service-oriented environment required.
• Ability to maintain quality control standard and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations required.
