This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys the relationships and continuity of general practice but also wants the variety and challenge of urgent care. The position combines GP appointments, dedicated surgery time and urgent-care shifts, providing a diverse caseload without moving into a traditional 24-hour emergency environment. You'll work alongside experienced veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technicians, veterinary assistants and client care professionals within a hospital that places a strong emphasis on clinical autonomy, collaboration and work-life balance. About the Practice This established small animal hospital provides comprehensive medical, surgical and urgent veterinary care for companion animals. The clinical team includes experienced veterinarians supported by RVTs, veterinary assistants and reception professionals, with staffing structured to give doctors the clinical support needed to manage both routine and more complex cases effectively.
Clinical services and capabilities include:
Wellness and preventative medicine General medical consultations Internal medicine and diagnostic workups Urgent care Emergency stabilization Comprehensive dentistry Soft tissue surgery Advanced surgical procedures Fracture management Digital radiography Diagnostic ultrasound FAST ultrasound examinations Comprehensive in-house laboratory diagnostics CBC and chemistry testing Urinalysis and sediment analysis Coagulation testing Digital cytology capabilities Electrosurgery Modern anesthesia and patient monitoring Hospitalized patient care In-house pharmacy Boarding and grooming services Digital radiographs can be submitted for specialist review, while the hospital also works with local radiologists for diagnostic ultrasound support when more advanced imaging interpretation is required. The combination of GP and urgent-care medicine provides clinicians with exposure to everything from routine wellness and chronic disease management to acute illness, trauma, toxicities, fractures and cases requiring urgent surgical intervention. The Opportunity The position offers a structured mix of general practice, urgent care and surgery, creating significantly more clinical variety than a conventional GP role. Your working week is expected to include: One dedicated surgery day One general practice shift Two urgent-care shifts GP hours typically operating during the daytime Urgent-care shifts running into the evening Saturday coverage as part of the wider urgent-care schedule Having a surgery-only day means procedures are not routinely competing with a full appointment schedule, giving you dedicated time to focus on surgical and dental cases. You'll also benefit from: Clinical autonomy over your cases Strong RVT and veterinary assistant support Varied medical, surgical and urgent-care caseload Dedicated surgical time In-house laboratory diagnostics Digital radiography Ultrasound capabilities Emergency and urgent-care exposure Collaborative case discussions Surgical mentorship where required Opportunities to expand your procedural skills Freedom to develop individual clinical interests CE and continued professional development Supportive team environment focused on quality medicine The hospital is looking for a veterinarian who is comfortable working independently for much of their clinical schedule while still valuing collaboration and support from the wider team. Compensation & Benefits $130,000 - $170,000 base salary Monthly production bonus No negative accrual Health, dental and vision insurance 401(k) with company match CE allowance Dedicated paid CE days Colorado veterinary licensing support Professional liability coverage Parental leave Long and short-term disability coverage Telehealth resources Structured mentorship Leadership and professional development opportunities Life in Fort Collins Fort Collins offers one of Northern Colorado's most appealing combinations of city amenities and outdoor access. Historic Old Town provides restaurants, independent businesses, live entertainment and a well-known craft brewery scene, while Colorado State University adds to the city's energetic atmosphere. For time outdoors, Horsetooth Reservoir and the surrounding foothills provide hiking, mountain biking, climbing, boating, paddleboarding and fishing within easy reach. The wider Northern Colorado location also provides access to Rocky Mountain National Park and the Front Range, making the area particularly attractive for veterinarians who want an active lifestyle outside work. #
