A Veterinarian provides medical care to animals. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries. Specializes in treating either pets and small domesticated animals, or large animals and livestock, or wild animals. May work on farms, in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, in animal shelters, or in hospitals or clinics that specialize in caring for animals. May inspect livestock used for food and check compliance with food safety regulations, or work in laboratories doing clinical research on animal and human diseases.

Job Description
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
Perform routine and complex veterinary medical and surgical procedures.
Provide follow-up care for medical and surgical conditions and complications.
Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Stay current with advances in veterinary medicine, medical interventions, and products.
Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other team members to ensure quality patient care.
Work with practice management to optimize physician and staff scheduling.
Assist with staff development, training, and performance improvement.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
Ensure compliance with applicable veterinary, health, safety, and controlled-substance regulations.
Maintain consistent attendance and professionalism.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsDoctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
Minimum of 2 years of veterinary clinic experience preferred.
Current, active Colorado veterinary license with no pending disciplinary actions.
Current, active DEA license.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative veterinary team environment.
Proficiency with computers and common software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to learn and effectively use veterinary practice management and electronic medical record systems.
Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to remain professional and effective in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Working ConditionsVeterinary clinic environment requiring frequent standing, crouching, bending, and movement.
Potential exposure to noise, zoonotic diseases, animal bites, and scratches.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work safely and effectively around animals and veterinary equipment.
