Island Medicine (The Real Version) Kauai is incredible, and it's also remote. That reality shapes both how we practice medicine and how we work together as a team. We're a small, collaborative, hands-on practice where teamwork is part of our culture. We believe that everyone's voice matters. There is no emergency or 24/7 hospital on Kauai, and there are no full-time specialists or advanced referral centers available locally. We do refer cases to Oahu when appropriate, but referral requires air travel and isn't always feasible depending on the patient, client, or situation. One of the unique aspects of practicing on Kauai is the opportunity to work closely with a network of visiting specialists. We regularly collaborate with specialists providing: Advanced surgery/orthopedics Advanced ultrasound Echocardiography Ophthalmology Dermatology This model allows us to keep more cases on the island, learn from specialists across multiple disciplines, and provide advanced care to our community while practicing in a truly unique environment. Our Clinic & Medicine We practice progressive, workup-based medicine with a strong emphasis on diagnostics, thorough case management, and a deliberate approach to patient care. We're looking for a veterinarian who is comfortable with routine soft-tissue surgery, including spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentistry, including extractions. Experience with emergency procedures such as GDV and splenectomy is preferred, as is experience with progressive anesthesia protocols, including CRIs. Basic ultrasound skills are a plus.
