We are a full-service veterinary hospital offering comprehensive medical, dental, surgical, and urgent care services to the people and pets of the Urbana, IL, and Champaign, IL communities. More importantly, we administer that care in a way that is gentle and reassuring. Our veterinarians and support staff are skilled at calming even the most anxious of pets. As a Cat Friendly Practice, we are especially adept at working with feline patients. Position Purpose:
Urgent Care Veterinarian - Full-Time or Part-Time Good Friends Animal Hospital | Champaign, Illinois Looking for a veterinary schedule that gives you flexibility while still allowing you to practice high-quality, interesting medicine? Good Friends Animal Hospital in Champaign, IL is looking for an Urgent Care Veterinarian to join our team! We are open to both full-time and part-time candidates and are especially interested in finding a DVM who can help us provide urgent care coverage on Saturdays and Sundays. Beyond the weekends, we're flexible! Additional weekday shifts are available, and we're happy to have a conversation about the schedule that works best for you. The Opportunity This is a great fit for a veterinarian who enjoys the variety and pace of urgent care but wants the support and relationships that come with working in an established general practice. You'll have the opportunity to see a diverse caseload that may include: Same-day sick and urgent appointments Gastrointestinal concerns Minor wounds and lacerations Ear, skin, and eye conditions Respiratory concerns Lameness and pain Vomiting and diarrhea Other non-life-threatening urgent cases Our goal is to provide an additional resource for pet owners who need care when their pet can't wait for the next available routine appointment, while helping alleviate the need for an emergency hospital visit when appropriate. Our biggest need is Saturday and Sunday coverage, with opportunities to add weekday shifts depending on your availability and desired schedule. Essential Responsibilities:
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries. Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results. Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options. Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed. Provide counsel around pet end of life care. Maintain patients' medical records. Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution. Appropriate state licensure. Eligibility to obtain
DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients. Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range:
USD $115,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
