Description PAWS Animal Adoption Center and PAWS Cares Community Veterinary Clinic in Midcoast Maine is seeking a part-time veterinarian to join our medical and surgical team. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for shelter medicine and a desire to help patients in our Midcoast community get the care they deserve. We are looking for a good communicator who enjoys being part of a supportive and dedicated team, and has strong skills in both medicine and surgery. The primary focus of this position will be small animal spays and neuters. Other responsibilities include examining in-house patients, seeing community wellness appointments, performing dental procedures and other minor surgeries, and participating in outreach clinics. We have a well-equipped, clean and sunny veterinary clinic and surgery suite within our animal shelter in the heart of Camden, Maine. We seek a motivated candidate with vision to help grow and optimize our services. This position is part-time with the possibility to expand through our community outreach programs. Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Perform spay and neuter surgeries on shelter animals as well as community cats and small dogs. Perform minor procedures and dentals as needed on both shelter and community animals. Work with technicians and assistants to provide care and advise treatment on any ill or injured animals. Provide intake exams on all new shelter animals and follow-up care as needed. Maintain thorough, neat, and timely medical records of all shelter animals using online software. Participate in outreach clinics for a local island community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for animal welfare. Possess good communication skills and computer literate. Exceptional time management skills and be a team player. Ability to remain composed and professional in busy or stressful situations. Responsible for maintaining current licensure. Graduate of an accredited school of veterinary medicine or equivalent. Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Maine in good standing and must complete all professional requirements to maintain licensure.
