Detroit, MI (Onsite).Job/Employment Type:
Full-Time.Schedule:
Monday- Friday (Weekends required during busy bidding season).
Project Scope:
Heavy Civil, MDOT, Infrastructure, and Roadway Projects (Commercial, Industrial).Mandatory Licenses & Certifications:
None Required. The Opportunity You will be the financial architect behind our most significant infrastructure projects, directly influencing the company's growth and competitive edge. This role offers the unique opportunity to work within a prestigious, third-generation family business where your technical expertise in heavy civil estimating translates into real-world progress for Michigan's roadways. How You Will Make an Impact Analyze comprehensive project plans, specifications, and requirements to ensure every bid is technically sound and competitive. Determine precise labor and equipment costs by evaluating project logistics and anticipated production rates. Formulate accurate project budgets and cost controls that safeguard company profitability from bid to award. Compare and negotiate competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to build the most cost-effective bid packages. Assess specific project site conditions and logistical restrictions to identify potential risks or hidden costs. Execute multiple concurrent bids with high accuracy, ensuring all deadlines are met during high-volume bidding seasons. Cultivate professional relationships with owners, consulting engineers, and agency representatives to enhance our market position. Required Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction field, specifically focused on heavy civil estimating. Advanced proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, and Microsoft Project. Demonstrated experience bidding on projects for MDOT or other various government agencies. Valid Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications & Experience Strong mechanical inclination and experience working in fast-paced or remote construction settings. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a high-performing project management team. Exceptional organizational skills with a rigorous approach to follow-up and detail management. Compensation & Benefits Weekly pay cycle with a 3% guaranteed company 401(k) contribution.
