Big Country Equipment is a BC-based heavy equipment service and repair company that works with resource-based customers in the construction, forestry, mining, and oil and gas sectors in Western Canada. Big Country Equipment was formed in 2017. We have grown rapidly from a one-truck operation to over 100 employees and a fleet of over 30 fully equipped service trucks, serving customers throughout Western Canada 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These are primarily shop-based positions with some fieldwork as required. We are looking for experienced, career-driven technicians who can work independently, take ownership of their work, and consistently deliver safe, high-quality results. Candidates must be professional in their approach, able to work effectively with both team members and customers, and comfortable operating in demanding environments.Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various types and brands of heavy equipment and shovels. Utilize computerized and other testing equipment to determine repairs and create detailed service reports.Transmission and drive-train repairs:
repairing or replacing transmission components, differential gears, and drive shafts. Interpret and complete both scheduled and unscheduled work orders. Contribute to the ongoing reliability of all heavy equipment and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance requirements. Test repaired equipment to verify proper maintenance. Make recommendations for repairs and improvement methods. Adhere to all safety protocols, site regulations, and company policies. Maintain up-to-date certification and training as required. Arrive at work fit for duty each day.Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience with off-road heavy equipment. Service truck or field experience is an asset, but not required. Experience with mining equipment will be considered an asset. Machine brands preferably worked on include Hitachi, Komatsu, CAT, and John Deere. Experience with surface drills is considered an asset. Experience with electric and hydraulic shovels will be considered an asset. Heavy Duty Equipment Technician preferred or 421A. Truck and Transport Mechanics and or Agricultural Equipment Technicians with mining equipment experience will be considered. A Red Seal is needed. Solid experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting.All Successful Candidates Must:
Be proficient in English, both verbal and written. Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License. Provide a minimum of 2 direct supervisor references. Pass a Criminal Record check. Provide a clean 5-year driver's abstract. Pass an 8-panel drug test (including marijuana) and an alcohol breath test. Be able to lift 50 lbs. comfortably.
