Heavy Equipment Operator

Pay Rate:

$24.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate various pieces of equipment, as needed, in the manufacturing of compost and soil amendment, along with stockpiling and loading of various products Perform vehicle safety inspections and fill out inspection forms Operate articulated loaders, water truck, tractor with scraper, composting (Scarab) machine, silage push tractor, and any other equipment deemed necessary in a safe and efficient manner Monitor oxygen level, moistures, and temperature on compost, and make adjustments in watering and turning as needed for quality and compliance issues Keeping accurate records of hours and activities, compost logs as required by regulatory agencies and departmental needs.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

: Perform Duties of Driver Loader, Utility positions, or any other task needed, as deemed necessary my management. Qualifications Must be able to operate front-end loaders, tractor and scraper, forklifts, composting machine, and off-road use of water truck and truck- trailer combinations Ability to operate all plant equipment and machinery including rolling stock (trucks/trailers, forklifts, loaders, man lifts) Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks including lifting (up to 100 lbs.), working in confined spaces, ability to work at heights (70 feet), climbing up/down ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and reach on a daily/repetitive basis Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks in all types of weather, including lifting 50 lbs., working in confined spaces, climbing up and down ladders or steps, and walking long distances in the taking of temperatures and oxygen levels in compost rows Good communication skills, both verbal and written Good mathematical, organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to read and understand job related manuals Ability to identify variables in product and adjust process as needed, to compensate Able to work varying shifts, weekends, and overtime, as needed Excellent attendance record Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
