Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer

Excavation Site Development Material Yard Operations Ignatowski Excavation is looking for motivated individuals who are interested in getting into the excavation and sitework industry and learning how projects are built from the ground up. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience operating heavy equipment, learning site development, and understanding how commercial and residential jobs operate day to day. No extensive experience required — we are willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic, good attitude, and willingness to learn. Work is project-based and weather dependent, with opportunities to grow into a more consistent role over time as experience increases.

Important:

We work throughout the State of Connecticut. Travel to various job sites is required.

What You'll Learn & Assist With:

Heavy equipment operation Excavation and site development Land clearing and grading Utility installation Material yard operations Loading trucks and moving materials Reading grades and elevations Jobsite organization and workflow Equipment maintenance and daily inspections Safe jobsite practices

Equipment May Include:

Excavators Wheel Loaders Skid Steers Dozers Compact Equipment Material processing equipment

Responsibilities:

Assist operators and crews on active job sites Learn to safely operate heavy equipment Perform general labor and site cleanup when needed Help with pipe work, grading, layout, and material handling Grease, fuel, and inspect equipment daily Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to work as a team Be flexible in a smaller company environment where tasks change daily Show up ready to learn and work hard

Qualifications:

Interest in construction, excavation, or heavy equipment Mechanical knowledge is a plus Reliable transportation Willingness to travel throughout Connecticut Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions Dependable and punctual Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Ability to take direction and grow within the company CDL or P7 license is a plus, but not required
