Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Rochelle Zell Jewish High School, in Deerfield, is looking for a compassionate, professional, and collaborative School Counselor. You'll bring expertise in social-emotional support, foster student well-being, build strong relationships, and support students' academic and social-emotional growth. You'll also develop programming for both students and parents and broader community. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly professional faculty at a school that offers a robust and rigorous dual curriculum in General and Jewish Studies. Our mission is to create a culture of academic excellence that inspires and prepares our students to think critically, achieve their full potential, and live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling focused on social-emotional development, mental health, and student well-being
  • Support students navigating personal, academic, and peer-related challenges; respond to crisis situations with appropriate interventions and referrals
  • Partner with faculty, administration, and the school social worker to develop collaborative approaches and supports for student cases
  • Communicate proactively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being
  • Serve as liaison between the school and outside service providers, including therapists and PHP/IOP programs
  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate counseling curriculum — advisory, workshops, and SEL programming
  • Lead initiatives related to student wellness, mental health, and belonging
  • Participate in Student Services Team meetings and attend school programming, including Shabbatonim, the Junior Trip, and other overnight and extracurricular events
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with legal and ethical standards Reports to: Academic Dean Faculty Values>/b> Jewish Values

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Valid state certification/licensure as a school counselor
  • Expertise in social-emotional support and student wellness
  • Experience developing and presenting SEL programming for students, parents, and the broader community
  • Strong relationship-building skills across students, families, and professional colleagues
  • Ability to respond to crisis situations with calm, professional judgment Compensation $75,000-$80,000 + benefits
