Primary Purpose:
The ECISD program aims to hire the most outstanding educators for our identified turnaround schools. The key pillars of the this, which is based on Dallas ISD's ACE model, include:

  • Parent and community partnerships The primary purpose of a ECISD instructional coach is to improve student outcomes through building teacher capacity.
Instructional coaches accelerate learning to close achievement gaps and ensure a college-ready foundation for every student by working with the campus administration to develop and deliver professional development to address campus specific needs; facilitating instructional conversations during Professional Learning Committee (PLC) meetings; working one on one with teachers that require and/or request instructional support; making data driven decisions; identifying specific areas of need based on TEKS and student performance; determining appropriate interventions to support students and to bridge academic gaps in learning; and interfacing with all appropriate departments to ensure coordination and alignment of instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Demonstrated competency in a teaching and/or coaching role
Special Knowledge Skills:
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Knowledge of district curriculum
  • Knowledge of TEKS Standards and state assessments
  • Ability to develop and provide professional learning to adult learners
  • Ability to interpret data and use it to impact student learning
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Experience:
  • At least three years of successful teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide support for new and experienced teachers through coaching cycles, training, professional learning, and mentoring. 2. Observe, co-teach, model, and provide feedback on effective instructional practices. 3.
Support district-wide efforts including:
guaranteed and viable curriculum, assessment development, high-quality instructional practices, effective use of data, and the advancement of collaborative teams for a highly functioning Professional Learning Community. 4. Facilitate training and coaching in digital learning practices, access to challenging content, feedback through formative assessment, ELL strategies, differentiation, classroom management, and individual instruction. 5. Build teacher capacity to engage students in innovative learning experiences that best align research-based instructional strategies and appropriate digital tools and resources to the intended level of thinking within the content. 6. Support teachers to incorporate new instructional practices and technologies into the curriculum. 7. Collaborate with teams of teachers to support lesson planning and to facilitate the use of student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions. 8. Support teachers in implementing Continuous Improvement philosophy and tools to support and improve classroom systems, instruction, and student learning. 9. Attend regular training and collaborative meetings. 10. Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance to ensure a consistent focus on student learning. 11. Lead (or assists in leading) PLC meetings 12. Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators 13. Campus discretion to provide student intervention/instruction for no more than 25% of the day. 14. Implement the district coaching model. 15. Attend all coaching sessions provided by the Talent Development department. 16. All other duties as assigned
