Job Duties What You Will Do:
You will independently program, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain complex traffic signals. You will independently program, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices; cellular modems, wireless radios, fiber optic equipment traffic signals. You will review construction plans to ensure that ITS & signal proposed work complies with Departmental standards. You will act as a lead worker (provides work direction & training) over lower-level Traffic Technicians &/or other employees assigned to work crew in maintenance.

Qualifications Successful completion of all Highway Technician level 1, 2, 3, & 4 courses (i.e., construction/field &/or lab track) & construction experience requirements per the current Highway Technician MOU between
ODOT & OCSEA/AFSCME
; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I, Aggregate Level 1, & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
  • Or completion of associate core program in construction technology or comparable core program; 18 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
  • Or completion of certification program from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET); 24 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
  • Or 36 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver's license.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
