By joining our Lyon County Unit, as a Highway Technician Superintendent I in Lyon County, you'll have the opportunity to lead, supervise, coordinate and create long-term highway maintenance activities and improvements along state maintained routes.Summary of Responsibilities:
Planning of highway maintenance projects. Determining of appropriate repair methods for highway issues. Maintaining and completing records and reports on budget, personnel, equipment and supplies. Supervising a team of highway maintenance employees.The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In:
High school graduate. 10 years of construction or highway maintenance experience. Class A CDL with tanker endorsement. Advanced computer skills.Benefits and Perks:

Travel required, sitting at a desk, field visits to project sites which require the following of safety procedures, bending/stooping/lifting, management/supervision of a team. Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology, or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering will substitute for four (4) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program will substitute for six (6) years of highway related experience in construction or maintenance. College coursework related to any of these fields will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. SubstituteEXPERIENCE

NONESPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement to qualify for employment in this job classification. The employee must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Leadership Level 1 or equivalent within one year of employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials. Working Conditions Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather. Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided inKRS 18A.111.
