Horizonal Slitter Operator (2nd shift)

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Horizonal Slitter (Operator A) on 2nd shift at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for cutting foam materials used in bedding/mattress fabrication process. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Slitter Operator, you will be expected to operate the slitter to ensure maximum usage of bun/sheet stock material with a minimal generation of trim material. Job Summary Responsible for the safe operation of a specific piece of equipment used in the manufacturing of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule. Position Scope Maintains daily communication with Quality Control, Department Manager, and other employees in the department to ensure the needs of all internal and external customers as outline by the production schedule are met. The position works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Responsibilities Essential Functions:

1. Must be able to read and complete the labeling process. 2. Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe working environment. 3. Must be able to operate the machinery proficiently according to customer specifications and the daily production schedule. 4. Conducts quality checks to ensure product meets all specifications. 5. Monitors the equipment to make sure that downtime is kept to a minimum. 6. Inputs pertinent data into the SAP system. 7. Must be able to make machine adjustment when necessary.

Experience:

On the job training is provided, prior machine experience and forklift is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime. Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret a tape measure. Your additional responsibilities will be cross trained to operate other cutting machines in the department. Other tasks as deemed necessary by supervision. Skills and Requirements Some computer knowledge and use Navigate through (SAP) to complete/check daily orders Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure Perform basis math skills Safely operate a forklift Maintain a clean and safe work environment Non-Essentials Functions 1. Assists with inventory, as required. 2. Other duties as assigned by management.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED Work Hours:

3:15pm•11:45pm, Mon•Fri, and depending on business needs

Hourly Rate:

$22.02•$22.75 with $1.00 shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd shift.
