You will provide spiritual care, emotional support, and counseling to patients and families during the end-of-life journey, respecting individual beliefs and cultural traditions. You will facilitate discussions about spirituality, meaning, and hope, and may help patients and families make decisions about end-of-life care. Additionally, you will offer grief support and bereavement services, and ensure patients and loved ones are not alone in their time of need.
Job Description:
Evaluating the spiritual needs and preferences of patients and their families and providing tailored support based on their beliefs and values. Offering emotional and spiritual support, including counseling, prayer, and pastoral care, to help patients and families cope with the challenges of terminal illness and grief. Helping patients and families make decisions about advanced directives, resuscitation orders, and funeral arrangements, considering spiritual and emotional factors. Offering grief counseling and bereavement services to families after the passing of a loved one and helping them process their loss and find healing. Collaborating with other members of the hospice care team to ensure comprehensive care and addressing the spiritual needs of patients and their families. Respecting the diversity of beliefs and practices of patients and families and tailoring care to their individual needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Bachelors degree. Ordination/Licensing. One year of hospice experience. Ability to connect with patients and their families on an emotional level. Physical strength and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as needed.
