Hilton Head Island, SC Job Details Part-time 4 days ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Full Job Description General Definition of Work The Sea Pines Country Club Starter is responsible for controlling the pace of play on the golf course by directing players to the first tee at appropriate times. This position reports directly to the Golf Professional. Essential Functions The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. Provides information regarding course, play times and other golf-related issues. Verifies that all revenues have been communicated to the Golf Professional for all players before they depart for course, practice tee or range. Dispenses range balls in accordance with club policies. Keeps Golf Professionals informed about rate of course play. Determines rate of course play. Always maintains a clean and orderly appearance of starter's booth. Cleans sporting equipment and vehicles. Arranges players in proper starting order and assigns appropriate tees. Assigns golf cars. Starters may also perform the following duties: Ø ensures that members' and guests' bags are appropriately placed in golf cars. Ø assists golf professionals in running tournaments, clinics and other special events. Supplies players with score cards, pencils and rules of play. Advises players about course conditions. Performs standard opening and closing procedures. Attend staff meetings. Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by Assistant Golf Professional and Golf Professional. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledgeable about the game of golf and its rules. Must be friendly, tactful, courteous and possess excellent communication skills. Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent. 1 - 2 years' Special Requirements Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements The work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing for long periods of time, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, bending, stretching, and twisting or reaching, using hands to finger, handling or feeling and repetitive motions, pushing, pulling or lifting up to 50 pounds. Work requires handling of golf equipment; work has regular vision requirements, vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires the use of measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work has some exposure to environmental conditions. Work in hot, humid, and sometimes moderate noisy environment with light traffic. #SPCC
