Job Description

Overview TGA of Fairfax is seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Lead PGA Jr. League Coach to lead our Summer PGA Jr. League program in Northern Virginia. The season consists of approximately six practices and six matches, totaling approximately 18 coaching hours. Additional coaching opportunities may be available through TGA summer camps, clinics, after-school programs, and private instruction. This position is ideal for a PGA Professional, PGA Associate, college golfer, or experienced golf coach who enjoys developing young players and creating a positive team environment. The Lead Coach will oversee weekly practices, coach matches, communicate with families, and help players build confidence, skills, and a lifelong love for the game. Our PGA Jr. League program is designed to provide junior golfers with a fun, team-based experience that blends player development, competition, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We are looking for a coach who is energetic, organized, and passionate about helping young golfers improve both on and off the course. At TGA, our mission is to create lifelong golfers by delivering engaging, high-quality coaching experiences that make the game fun, accessible, and rewarding for every player. Experience Required
  • Golf coaching, teaching, or competitive playing experience required
  • Experience working with junior golfers preferred
  • PGA Professional, PGA Associate, LPGA Professional, or collegiate golf experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to lead groups of junior golfers in a fun, organized, and safe environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with players and parents
  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Passion for player development and growing the game of golf Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all PGA Jr. League practices and match-day activities
  • Create a fun, positive, and engaging learning environment for junior golfers ages 7-13
  • Teach golf fundamentals, short game, full swing, rules, etiquette, and course management
  • Develop players' confidence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and love for the game
  • Organize and implement structured practice plans that prepare players for competition
  • Coach players during matches and provide constructive feedback and encouragement
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and player development
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices and matches
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all coaching assignments
  • Maintain attendance records and provide updates to TGA leadership as needed
  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for TGA of Fairfax and PGA Jr. League
  • Assist with player evaluations, team formation, and season administration as needed
