Night/Morning Baker Needed!
Brickmaiden Breads is looking for an experienced night/morning Baker! Shift times range from 1am to 9am to 4am to 12am depending on the day. Full time preferred, part time possible!
Job DescriptionAs Night/Morning baker you will come in to a walk-in retarder full of shaped loaves and bake them off in a series of 3-5 bakes. Loaves will be baked to our standards and moved to cooling racks. Some shifts may include getting final loaf counts, creating packing slips, packing for wholesale, and taking bread to our kitchen and bake shop.
DutiesSetting up bakehouse for bakingFeeding Sourdough Starter for the day's mixingScoring, baking, rotating and cooling loaves.
Rejecting loaves that don't meet quality standards.
Sweeping oven between oven firings.
Cleaning couche, brushing baskets and rinsing bread pans.
Packing loaves for wholesaleTracking loaves using in-house tracking softwareCleaning up and setting up bakehouse for the next day's bread.
RequirementsExperience preferred, training available.
We prefer to work with nice people who are excited about bread and have good common sense. Experience would be good, but is not necessary. A sense of humor is a plus.
Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours and lift 50 pounds.

The hiring process includes a paid stage, so we have a chance to spend some time with each other.
Cross training for all other roles in the bakehouse is available and encouraged. This includes shaping loaves, mixing dough and day-baking as well.

We mill some of our own flour, and source the rest from Central Milling. We sell to wholesale accounts, at farmer's markets, and through our caf and retail space that opened in 2019. The kitchen side of the business also makes pastries, savory lunch items, and a line of packaged goods.
