About Between the Sips Between the Sips is an independent romance bookstore and boutique tea room where books, tea, and community come together. Our tea room offers guests a relaxing experience built around quality loose-leaf teas, fresh baked pastries, light fare, and thoughtful hospitality. We're looking for someone who enjoys baking from the heart and takes pride in creating beautiful food that makes people smile. Position Summary As our Tea Room Baker & Kitchen Lead, you'll be responsible for preparing fresh baked goods, light menu items, and helping maintain a clean, organized kitchen. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, values creativity, and takes pride in creating delicious pastries that complement the cozy atmosphere of our tea room. Responsibilities Prepare fresh pastries, scones, muffins, cookies, desserts, and other seasonal baked goods Prepare light lunch items such as tea sandwiches, salads, soups, and small plates Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation Follow recipes and portion standards Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate ordering needs Maintain a clean and organized kitchen Follow all health department food safety and sanitation requirements Assist with receiving and storing deliveries Help support tea service during busy periods as needed Qualifications We're looking for someone who: Has baking experience in a bakery, café, restaurant, or similar environment Enjoys creating high-quality baked goods Works well independently Is organized and dependable Pays close attention to detail Is comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen Holds (or is willing to obtain) a Food Handler certification (ServeSafe) Formal culinary education is appreciated but not required. We value passion, consistency, and a willingness to learn. Schedule Part-time, approximately 20-32 hours per week. The tea room will initially operate on select days each week, so scheduling will be based on business needs and may grow as the business expands. Morning availability is preferred to prepare baked goods before opening. Compensation Starting at $21-24 per hour , depending on experience.
