The Waterview is seeking a part-time Pastry Assistant to join our on-premise culinary team. Working alongside an experienced team, your primary duties will be baking, filling and decorating custom multi-tier wedding cakes from scratch. You might also assist with finishing dessert items, plating desserts for stations, and more.

You will report to our Pastry Chef and join a team of culinary professionals dedicated to delighting our clients with great food.

To be successful on our team, you must be able to work proficiently and efficiently in a busy scratch kitchen, work well with others and be willing to help out wherever you are needed. We are willing to teach you new techniques as long as you are willing to learn from those around you.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Two or more years of professional culinary experience in a commercial bakery. Strong experience decorating multi-tier wedding cakes (buttercream) - a test will be a part of the hiring process. Experience in a banquet or similar volume production kitchen is preferred. High school education, GED, or equivalent experience; Culinary degree a plus. Must be able to work the required schedule (Tuesday - Saturday) on location at The Waterview Must have employment eligibility in the U.S. Ability to operate, clean, maintain most commercial kitchen equipment. Knowledge of cooking techniques; knife skills; attention to detail. Current ServSafe (Preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and use hands to handle objects, tools or controls. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work an 8-12 hour shift in a standing position. Clean and neat appearance, as you will be in front of guests who are eating food that you are preparing.

Pay:

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
