Job Description
The Royal Tea Room is looking for a dependable and organized Part-Time Baker / Kitchen Prep team member to join our kitchen. This position will primarily focus on preparing from-scratch baked goods and select desserts used for afternoon tea, special events and daily service. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with food, follows recipes carefully and takes pride in producing consistent, beautiful products. Previous professional baking experience is helpful, but we are also open to someone with strong baking skills who is willing to learn our recipes, methods and standards. Responsibilities Prepare and bake our house-made scones and other baked goods Prepare select desserts and afternoon tea treats Follow established recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards Measure, mix, portion and prepare ingredients accurately Maintain consistent quality from batch to batch Assist with basic kitchen prep as needed Properly label, store and rotate ingredients and finished products Maintain a clean and organized work area Wash dishes, utensils and baking equipment used during production Follow food safety and sanitation procedures Communicate ingredient or inventory needs before supplies run low What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Dependable and punctual Comfortable working independently Organized and efficient Detail-oriented Able to follow recipes accurately Comfortable working on their feet for several hours Able to maintain a clean workspace while working Interested in baking and food preparation Willing to learn and grow into additional kitchen responsibilities over time Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 AM-12:00 PM Approximately 12 hours per week. Additional hours may occasionally be available for holidays, special events or increased production needs. Requirements Previous professional baking experience is preferred, but not required. This position may be a great fit for a skilled home baker, culinary student, or someone with strong baking experience who is comfortable following established recipes and maintaining consistent quality. A valid Illinois Food Handler Certificate is required within 30 days of hire.
Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 per weekBenefits:
