Knowledge of baking techniques is essential to this role. We use simple ingredients and recipes that rely heavily on good technique. Experience and comfort with baking ingredients and equipment and the desire to keep learning will make this a great fit for the right candidate. We have a standard set of baked goods that are required every day, including many gluten free and vegan items, so awareness of allergens and allergen protocols is ideal. The right candidate must be very detail oriented and able to stay on task and work under direction of the head baker as well as independantly. It is a small kitchen so the ability to move quickly and skillfully around and multi-task with ease is a must. Candidate must be able to be on their feet for long hours in a hot enviroment and be able to lift 50 pounds. The job requires a high level of energy and organization. You must be able to work well with other team members while keeping motivated and productive. We pride ourselves in maintaining a respectful yet fun kitchen experience. The right candidate will follow the Baker Manager's direction, producing the required standard baked goods and presenting them for cafe sale. Responsibilities Expertly prepare recipes as written Prepare ingredients for timely baking Keep a tidy, sanitary work space Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen before and after baking Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Process all baked goods made, either for that day, the following, or for freezer storage Check quality of ingredients Ensure expert presentation of baked goods Monitor stock and notify manager when there are shortages Produce list of required baked goods instructed by Bakery Manager Record all work done (baked goods prepared) and produce notes on recipes Skills Comfortable and familiar with a kitchen environment Experience in using kitchen tools and bakeware Knowledge of various baking procedures and methods Ability to follow all sanitation procedures Ability to work as a team Very good communication skills Excellent physical condition and stamina and ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly in a small kitchen Servsafe certification desirable, not required
Pay:
