About the role A long-standing Fitchburg bakery under new culinary leadership is looking for a talented Cake Decorator / Pastry Artist to join our growing team. Led by a Culinary Institute of America graduate, we are combining local tradition with fresh techniques and building a strong, collaborative kitchen. This is a great role for an experienced decorator or culinary graduate looking to take on creative ownership, build a portfolio with high-visibility specialty work, and grow with an expanding business.
Responsibilities Celebration & Specialty Cakes:
Decorate daily showcase cakes as well as custom multi-tier event cakes (weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Quinceañeras, and milestone events).
Fondant Lead:
Take the lead on designing, introducing, and executing fondant-styled cakes and custom decorative toppers.
Bakery Favorites:
Maintain high quality and consistency across batch orders of cupcakes, decorated cookies, and seasonal pastries.
Kitchen Collaboration:
Work alongside bakery leadership and production staff to maintain high quality, kitchen efficiency, and safety standards.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Hands-on experience in commercial cake decorating, custom piping, multi-tier assembly, and fondant work.
Education:
Culinary or Baking & Pastry Arts education preferred (vocational, associate, or bachelor degree).
Portfolio:
Demonstrated skills in custom cake design, piping techniques, and fine detail decorating.
Attributes:
Reliable, detail-oriented, with strong time-management skills to meet order timelines.
