Baker Assistant

Job description for baker For the Love of Sugar is a bakery offering an array of French Macarons, cakes by the slice, coffee, custom cakes, wedding cakes, and more! Looking for skilled and reliable individuals to join our team! Our retail bakery is located in Midtown Detroit, but our commissary kitchen is located in Garden City. This position would be for a baker in Garden City in assisting with prep work and other bakery items. This kitchen is not open to the public.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Restocking materials and ingredients
• Baking and prepping
• Cleaning the kitchen including dish washing, sweeping, mopping, etc.
• Keeping work area clean and organized at all times
• Other related tasks may be assigned as necessary Skills/Qualifications
• Previous experience is a plus!
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines at times
• Able to read, understand and follow recipes/order instructions including from scratch cakes, buttercreams, macarons, and more
• Individual creativity encouraged to help with new recipe development
• Passion for excellent quality of work with baking
• Excellent team player and communicator, with a willingness to learn

  to use and operate a kitchen scale to scale ingredients
• Hours would be 9am-3pm Monday-Friday (can vary slightly depending on availability)
• Full time preferred, but part time possible
