GENERAL MANAGER/DIRECTOR OF GOLF - POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Manager/Director of Golf serves as the chief operating executive of Baker Hill Golf Club, providing comprehensive leadership and oversight of all Club operations while serving as a highly visible ambassador for the membership, staff and broader community. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this individual is responsible for translating the Board's strategic direction into effective operating practices, leading and developing the Club's management team, safeguarding its physical and financial assets, and ensuring that every aspect of the Baker Hill experience reflects the Club's standards, traditions and commitment to excellence. Central to this role is leadership of Baker Hill's exceptional golf experience. The General Manager/Director of Golf will maintain a highly visible and engaging presence with members, combining strong operational leadership with a genuine passion for the game and a deep appreciation for the traditions and camaraderie of a premier golf-only club. This individual will work collaboratively with the Board, committees and department leaders to ensure outstanding golf operations, programming, service and course presentation while thoughtfully positioning the Club for continued long-term success. As a leader, the General Manager/Director of Golf will establish the tone for a positive, professional and highly collaborative workplace. Through clear communication, mentorship, accountability and thoughtful team development, this individual will inspire department leaders and employees to consistently perform at a high level. The successful candidate will recruit, develop and retain exceptional talent, establish clear standards and expectations, and foster a culture in which all employees in all departments understand their important role in delivering the Baker Hill experience. The General Manager/Director of Golf will also provide disciplined financial and operational stewardship, working closely with the Board and appropriate committees on budgeting, strategic planning, capital improvements, asset management and other significant Club initiatives. Strong planning and project management capabilities, sound business judgment and accountability for financial performance will be essential. While Baker Hill operates seasonally, this is a year-round leadership position, with responsibility for the thoughtful closing of each season, ongoing administrative and planning activities throughout the winter months, and comprehensive preparation for a seamless and successful reopening each year.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER/DIRECTOR OF GOLF
Embrace and advance Baker Hill Golf Club's established culture of excellence, inspiring the team to continually elevate performance while preserving the traditions, standards and golf-focused identity that distinguish the Club. Oversight across all areas of Club operations, with particular attention to the golf experience, course operations, member services, financial performance, food and beverage, events, human resources and facilities. Approach the transition with a deliberate focus on listening, observing and learning. Develop a thorough understanding of the Club's operations, membership expectations, history and culture before introducing meaningful change. Quickly establish authentic and productive relationships with members, staff and Club leadership. Maintain a highly visible and approachable presence while becoming an engaged and trusted member of the Baker Hill community. Serve as a thoughtful steward for the Club's golf course, facilities and physical assets, maintaining the exceptional standards and attention to detail expected of a nationally recognized golf club. Be responsible for all golf operations directly, with the Head Golf Professional as a direct report - including merchandising/golf shop, bag room, cart fleet management starters, club tournament operations and practice facilities Work closely with, and mentor the Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction on delivering the exceptional golf experience desired by the membership Responsibility for all golf instruction and player development programs for all member segments Interpret and enforce the Club's golf rules and regulations without prejudice and ensure that the Golf Pro Shop staff is familiar with Club rules and policies and enforces them Liaise on a daily basis with golf staff to ensure a smooth flow of information within the team and with other departments within the Club; maintain a close relationship with the other members of the Club management staff Coordinate golf calendar and interdepartmental collaboration, including the Golf Course Superintendent, Golf and Green Committees, and other departments of the Club. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Club's financial model and provide disciplined oversight of operating and capital resources. Establish accountability among department leaders while ensuring financial decisions support both current priorities and long-term sustainability. Foster a positive, professional and collaborative environment built on communication, mutual respect and teamwork, earning the trust and confidence of members and staff while preserving the culture, traditions and exceptional golf experience that distinguish Baker Hill.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS A
minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience within a dynamic, family-focused private club or comparable high-end hospitality environment is preferred. An accomplished and engaging leader who establishes clear expectations, holds individuals accountable and empowers department leaders and their teams to perform at a consistently high level. The successful candidate will be an effective mentor who recognizes talent, develops people and fosters a collaborative, service-oriented culture and brings out the best in everyone. A poised and credible executive who demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism and integrity, with the interpersonal skills necessary to establish trusted relationships with the Board, committees, members and staff. A proven ability to attract, develop and retain high-performing teams through thoughtful recruitment, training, coaching and professional development. A career history demonstrating meaningful tenure, progressive responsibility and intentional professional growth. EDUCATIONAL AND CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS A
bachelor's degree with a focus on Hospitality Management or Golf Course Management is highly desirable. In lieu of the degree, substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered. Industry certifications such as CCM, CCE, PGA or PGA GM Certification are encouraged, but not required.
