Bakery Assistant Lead About Us We are a scratch-production artisan bakery dedicated to the craft of real bread. We believe in long fermentation, hand-shaping, and baking in small batches to achieve the perfect crackling crust and open crumb. We don't use shortcuts—just quality grain, water, time, and technique. 100% sourdough. Working out of a standalone commercial kitchen, we are a close-knit team of 3-5 people collaborating to make great food. We work closely with supplying our cafe the baked goods, supplies, and ingredients they need, preparing breads and pastry for up to 10 weekly farmers markets in the summer, alongside several wholesale customers we have locally. We are looking for team members who respect the craft and take pride in everything that comes out of our kitchen. Job Summary Perfect for a culinary grad or a home baker looking to go pro and take on more responsibility. As the Assistant Lead, you will work closely with the Bakery Lead to ensure production runs smoothly and standards are met. We will train you on the skills, but we need someone with the drive to step up and lead by example. Monday-Friday 6 am - 2 pm Responsibilities Assist the Lead Baker with mixing, scaling, and shaping doughs according to strict artisan standards. Manage oven rotation and finishing work, including glazing, decorating, and packaging. Step into a leadership role when the Bakery Lead is busy, ensuring the floor remains productive and focused. Maintain a spotless station; wash dishes and equipment as needed, setting the standard for cleanliness. Follow recipes and instructions precisely, ensuring zero shortcuts are taken.

Requirements Experience:

1+ year of food service experience (baking preferred, but not strictly required for the right candidate).

Positive Attitude:

We are looking for warm, happy, and reliable people. We will gladly teach the right person the craft of artisan baking, but bringing a great personality to the kitchen is a must.

Team Communication:

Because we operate in a standalone kitchen, clear, positive communication and the ability to work seamlessly in a small group of 3-5 people is essential.

Initiative:

The ability to see what needs to be done without being micromanaged.

Physical Ability:

Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long shifts.
