Job Description
Role Summary The Baker / Sandwich Chef role is a cross-trained back-of-house production position responsible for preparing baked goods, savory items, sandwiches, and other core products with consistency, urgency, and care. This role helps ensure the shop remains well-stocked with fresh, high-quality items while supporting smooth transitions between baking, prep, and display needs. This position is critical to maintaining product availability, minimizing waste, and supporting the overall guest experience through strong production execution. Core Responsibilities Bake and finish products according to recipe, bake time, and presentation standards Prepare sandwiches, savory items, and grab-and-go products accurately and efficiently Follow production plans and adjust with management based on business needs Support the preparation and boxing of products for display or service Monitor product quality, freshness, and hold times Label, rotate, and store products according to FIFO and food safety procedures Track production quantities and communicate shortages, overages, or waste concerns Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation Assist with inventory awareness and communicate supply needs to management Support other back-of-house production tasks as needed What Success Looks Like Core products are ready on time and meet quality standards Sandwich and savory production supports service flow without delays Waste is minimized through smart preparation and communication Workstations remain clean, stocked, and organized Product output supports full, attractive displays and strong availability Skills and Qualities Strong sense of urgency and organization Able to follow recipes and production standards closely Good time management and consistency Calm and focused in a fast-paced environment Team player who can flex between baking and food prep responsibilities Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted Ability to stand and walk for long shifts Ability to work in cold and hot conditions, including refrigerators, freezers, and ovens Flexible availability including early mornings, weekends, and holidays Bakery, prep, or sandwich production experience preferred
