Pace Café is looking for a dependable, organized baker to join our kitchen team and prepare our baked goods fresh for daily service. This is an early-morning production position beginning at 4:00 AM. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, following established recipes, managing multiple bake times, and having products ready before the café opens.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and bake our daily bagels, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and other café baked goods Follow Pace recipes, preparation methods, portion standards, and production schedules Mix, shape, proof, bake, finish, and properly store products Monitor product quality, freshness, consistency, and presentation Plan production quantities based on daily needs and anticipated volume Label, date, rotate, and properly store ingredients and finished products Track low inventory and communicate ingredient or supply needs Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe bakery workspace Properly clean mixers, ovens, baking tools, work surfaces, and equipment Complete daily production and cleaning checklists Minimize waste while ensuring the café is fully stocked for service Assist with developing and testing seasonal baked goods as needed What We're Looking For Reliable transportation and the ability to consistently arrive by 4:00 AM Previous baking, pastry, bread, bagel, or commercial kitchen experience preferred Strong understanding of measurements, recipes, proofing, bake times, and kitchen organization Ability to work independently and manage time without constant supervision Consistent attention to quality, cleanliness, and presentation Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds Availability on weekends and holidays as scheduled Food-safety certification is preferred but not required at the time of application About Pace Café Pace is an independently owned café in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood focused on thoughtfully made food and drinks. Our kitchen prioritizes scratch-made recipes, high-quality ingredients, halal meats, gluten-free options, and food made without seed oils, artificial flavors, or unnecessary additives. We're looking for someone coachable who takes pride in what they make and understands that consistency matters—from the first batch of the morning to the final product served to a guest.
