Whether you've been decorating for years or you're still perfecting your craft, we'd love to meet you! At Ludger's Bavarian Cakery, we believe that passion, creativity, and a willingness to learn are just as important as experience. Skill can grow over time, but loving what you do can't be taught. About the Role Daily tasks include decorating custom cakes, ready-to-go cakes, cupcakes, cake balls, and filling our bakery case with fresh, beautiful treats. This is a fast-paced work environment. We move quickly, especially during busy seasons and weekends, so you'll need to keep up the pace while keeping quality and consistency high. You'll be part of a supportive team, working alongside (and learning from) our decorators with 30 years of experience. It's a great environment for learning, sharing ideas, and refining your skills. Availability Friday and Saturday availability is a must. These are our busiest days, and every decorator is needed on the schedule. Compensation Our pay scale has a wide range, and for good reason! We reward demonstrated skill and reliability. In addition to base pay, decorators share in our tip pool, which typically adds about $2 to $3 per hour each week. Compensation is based on decorating ability shown during an in-person interview and skills test. It's not about how many years you've been decorating. It's about your artistry, consistency, and teamwork. Training is available for all positions, and growth opportunities are always encouraged! Skills Evaluation During the in-person skills test, we evaluate a variety of decorating techniques including base icing, flowers, writing, various borders/piping, cupcake swirls, hand drawing in icing, and dipping cake balls or berries. Additional advanced techniques are a bonus but not required: stacking/tiered cakes, fondant work, and cake shaping. Not all of these skills are required at the time of hire, but they help us understand your strengths, determine pay level, and identify areas for growth and training.
