This role sits where artistry meets production. You'll turn sheet cakes into individually finished desserts, run the decorating work that makes our pastry case worth stopping for, and help develop new items rather than only executing someone else's recipes. It's an all-day café and bakery on East Bay Street, so the work covers daily pastry production alongside custom and celebration cakes. What You'll Do Decorating Decorate and finish sheet cakes into individual, retail-ready desserts Apply buttercream, fondant, ganache, and other finishes with precision and consistency Execute piping, borders, florals, lettering, and custom designs Hold a consistent, high-quality finish across large batches Produce custom and celebration cakes to order Baking and production Produce desserts, cakes, and pastries to spec in a scratch bakery Execute recipes and production processes efficiently at volume without losing quality Hold consistency, quality, and presentation standards across every batch, whatever the order size Development Design and refine new desserts, cakes, and pastry items from concept to finished product Collaborate with the team on seasonal designs, custom orders, and new dessert concepts Contribute to portioning and costing on new and existing products Standards Keep your station organized, clean, and food-safety compliant Manage your time to meet daily production and order deadlines What We're Looking For Required Strong artisanal cake decorating skill. This is the core of the role, not a nice-to-have A portfolio or photos of past decorating work Steady hands, patience, and an eye for symmetry and detail Ability to work efficiently at volume without sacrificing quality Comfort with piping bags and tips, spatulas, turntables, and standard decorating tools Professional bakery, pastry, or decorating experience A positive, team-oriented attitude Pays at the top of the range Advanced decorating technique: fondant sculpting, sugar work, airbrushing, custom toppers Product development experience.
